I’ve been designing albums for dMdC Photography for a while now and I’ve seen quite a few album designs come and go, but this is one of my favorites! It’s filled with beautiful portraits, pretty details, and great moments all in a design with clean lines.

Fall Schedule Updates

It’s September, which means we’ll soon all be getting emails from our album suppliers with their holiday deadlines. That usually means a huge spike in album production between photographers, me, and the binders themselves! Now is a great time to invest a few days in talking with your clients and setting up their expectations for normal album production time as well as encourage them to approve their current album designs.

As usual, I will do my best to return all albums in my normal 7 business day turnaround throughout the fall season. In order to accomplish this, as of October 1 I will cease to take new clients unless I’ve fully finished the workload on current clients. So if you’ve been thinking about using Willow Album Design, get your first album design in to me NOW to qualify as a current client throughout the busy fall season!

I’d like to also take a few minutes to remind clients that if your album binder deadline is November 20th, the last reasonable day to submit an album to me for design is around November 1st. This would mean your first draft will posted around November 10th, allow for ONE day to make revision requests, and then the second draft posting around November 18th or so. Again, please consider time for revisions when submitting album designs!

As a reminder, I am a boutique album design company, which is another way to say I’m a one-woman shop. This means that your albums gain my personal expertise, but also means that when I get busy I do not send out extra work to unknown designers. The fall season is busy and I take that seriously!

A slightly different take on the color-blocked album design, I used dotted lines rather than solid color blocks to accent the images. The blue fits in perfectly with the couple’s blue and green decor and wedding design. Images courtesy Turn Loose the Art.

The entire album design is viewable using Fundy’s awesome proofing system. Lately, I’ve also been using Finao’s iPad app to proof more realistic covers to our clients as well.

Last Sale Day & Vacation Announcements

Today is the last day of the winter album sale, so if you’d like to save a bit more now is the time to do it. To qualify for the sale pricing, you much submit your album design worksheet by 11:59pm EST. If you submit in the evening hours, I may not be invoicing you until tomorrow morning, but invoices must also be paid for by the end of tomorrow to qualify. Please, please submit any albums you’d like finished soon today and qualify for the sale!

Also, in other news, I’ll be closed for a bit! From February 17-March 17 I’ll be closed to get married, go to WPPI (find me at the Finao booth again!), go to India, shoot a wedding, and tack on a little honeymoon at the end there. There will be three days in between WPPI and our trip to India in which I will catch up on album revisions. I appreciate everyone’s understanding while I close down for this time.

Elements of Sage Album Design

Desiree of dMdC Photography sent me this album and said she’d let me choose between either Green Label or Organic design styles, and I think the organic style fits this album perfectly! With the soft tones in some of the portraits, it complements the feel of the wedding perfectly.

Sample Album Season!

Miguel Pola sent this album out to me, his first for the winter album sale. He wanted a simple sample to showcase his work for 2011. He’s got the right idea, because now all future clients will see the beauty of a simple album design rather than cluttering up those spreads!

Organic Sample Album Design

I finished this album design before the holidays and cannot wait for Kelsey Thompson to start showing her new sample to her clients throughout the winter booking season! The lemony organic accents in the album might just be the antidote for a dreary day and the right start to getting clients more excited about her work.

End of 2010 Holiday Schedule

Well, it looks like I’ve officially cleared my entire workload just in time for my holiday break! I am “closed” from December 22-January 3 for the holidays and to revamp some things for the new year. By the end of my break I should have a newsletter out detailing a few new things coming your way!

I’ll be available at the Finao booth to talk to anyone about their albums and my album design at both PPA and WPPI this year. I won’t be able to design books while I’m away of course!
January 14-19 I’ll be in San Antonio at PPA
February 18-24 I’ll be in Vegas for WPPI

After I return from San Antonio, I’ll be starting the winter album design sale. I’ll have more details in a newsletter soon, but expect great savings so you can get your clients caught up with their albums.

Clean Cut Album Design

Kate Lowenstein sent over a few designs to me a couple weeks ago, and this is the first album I designed for her and her clients. It looks like a beautiful Cape wedding, and I think she chose the right design style for this wedding.
