When Kelly Guenther sent over this set of images, I was pretty happy she chose the Green Label style for her new sample wedding album. I love this clean, fresh design!
Stats: Green Label design, 53 images, 32 pages, 12×8 horizontal album
It’s that time again, the end of summer blues. I’m heading off for a short vacation and am closing the Willow Album Design Offices from August 22-28. Emails will not be answered, album approvals and uploads will have to wait until I return.
When I do return, it will be the start of the fall rush. What does this mean for you?
1. If you’re a current client (you’ve sent in at least one album in the past), it simply means you’ll receive more of the same great service. I will of course recommend sending albums in sooner rather than later, as my turnaround is still 7 business days and with revisions this can easily extend into two weeks.
2. If you’ve never sent an album in before or don’t yet have an ftp account, I will of course recommend setting that up immediately if you’re planning on sending in albums this fall for the holiday season delivery. Current clients will be given priority in the design cue throughout all of October and November.
I’ll be posting album manufacturer deadlines as I receive them over the next month, and it’s always safest to move your own personal deadlines up 3 or 4 weeks prior to avoid headaches.
Please enjoy a few lovely spreads from a recent album I designed for dMdC Photography:
Leslie just sent this wedding over to me, asking me to design her a killer sample since the wedding was in Paris, France. Since Leslie does a lot of Organic Design wedding albums, I thought keeping that idea and expanding a bit would be great for a sample album. I sampled colors from the bride’s bouquet and used a mix of color-blocked and organic design elements.

Stats: 14×14 album, 36 pages, Organic and Color-Blocked album designs, 79 images
Jerry Frazier just sent this set of images over to me a few days ago, and I’m very happy with the resulting album. It looks like the couple has an edgy side mixed with boldness, so I incorporated that into the album design.
Stats: Green Label, 10×12 album, Premium design, 30 pages, 58 images
New client Vanessa Adams from Vanessa Joy Photography sent over this album with hot pink flowers and accents, so what better color choice for the organic elements? She also took advantage of the DWF discount and has a nicely sized album now!
When you have a lot of portraits, it’s easy to focus on the images! I designed a new sample album for Lindsay at JLChrist Studios recently, and I’m just finishing up her revisions now.
Stats: Green Label Design, 9.5 x 13 Vertical, 30 pages, 66 images
I love that Miguel Pola sends over a set of images and just tells me to make him look good. It makes my job easier and gives his clients a beautiful product.
Stats: 13×10 Album, Premium design, Green Label, 86 images, 50 pages
I recently designed this album for a lovely little spring wedding, complete with organic elements to go along with the classic romance of the wedding itself. All images by Joe Rumore and Britney Gardner of Turn Loose the Art.
Stats: 12×9 album, 84 pages, 95 images, Organic wedding album design
Ruben Parra sent this beautiful wedding over a few weeks ago. I’m just starting the revision stage of the album with him and his client, but wanted to show the original album as it’s a beautiful, clean, and modern album design.
Stats: Color-Blocked Album Design, 120 images, 50 pages, 12×12
I’ve been getting some great sets of images in here lately! Leslie Gilbert of Leslie Gilbert Photography sent me this wedding a couple weeks ago. While a lot of images, the book still has a very clean, crisp feel that will carry this album into the years to come.
Stats: 11×14 album, 28 pages, 74 images, Green Label Album Design
I’m moving, and won’t be doing any album design work from Thursday, May 13- Sunday, May 16. I’ll be fully set up and ready to design away again on the 17th. Thank you for your understanding!
I’ll leave you with this beautiful spread, images supplied by Copper Siegel.
I’ve been designing a lot of 20×8 albums lately! Desiree from dMdC Photography sent over a beautiful collection of images filled with rustic touches and many portraits. I think a 20×8 album is best with fewer images, to really portray the showcase style of a full 16×20 spread.
Stats: 20×8, 32 images, 30 pages, Organic album design
Every photographer’s goal should be to present their client with a wedding album that stands the test of time. Jerry Frazier’s clients will definitely receive that! Combining the clean lines of my Green Label design style with the beautiful captured emotional moments gives this album its timeless appeal.
Stats: 10×12 album, 34 pages, 57 images, Premium green label album design
For many photographers, the winter and early spring months are spent catching up while the gear up for the next wedding season. It looks like this year is no different, as I’ve been designing a lot of sample albums for current Willow Album Design clients. Desiree at dMdC Photography just sent me two weddings to add some killer new samples to her lineup.
Stats: 14×14 Finao with ICE cover, 36 pages, 65 images, Premium Green Label album design
A few of my favorite spreads:
Desiree wants an acrylic ICE cover with metallic image underlay, and this is the cover I’m proposing:
Heidi Peters sent me a few photos of her beautiful fall album. Finao bound the album with the Fox Downs non-leather material, and I think it looks great. Thanks to Heidi for trusting me with her album design and sending me the final product images!
In all the years I’ve attended WPPI I’ve always tried to take advantage of show specials while there. I never find spectacular deals on CF cards, but I’ve found some really great deals elsewhere. And with that, I want to announce a one week only special!
Pre-pay for two album designs, and get the third album design included for free! (The third design must be an equal or lesser value.) You must pay for the first two designs together between March 6-13– contact me and I’ll send you a special invoice!
Willow Album Design will be at WPPI! I’ll be at the Finao Albums booth each day of the tradeshow if you’d like to meet me, and at various functions and parties from March 6-10.
Also, I’m taking a little vacation after WPPI. I’m not closing, but will be suspending normal turnaround from March 4-21. I’ll still be designing, but not with the normal quick turnaround you are used to receiving!
In the meantime, please enjoy a few spreads one of LOKITM‘s recent albums.
Miguel Pola sent this design over on the last day of my January album sale! He included a great mix of portraits and I used the 40 page design to emphasize those images.
