Vacation + Holiday Announcements

It’s that time again, the end of summer blues. I’m heading off for a short vacation and am closing the Willow Album Design Offices from August 22-28. Emails will not be answered, album approvals and uploads will have to wait until I return.

When I do return, it will be the start of the fall rush. What does this mean for you?
1. If you’re a current client (you’ve sent in at least one album in the past), it simply means you’ll receive more of the same great service. I will of course recommend sending albums in sooner rather than later, as my turnaround is still 7 business days and with revisions this can easily extend into two weeks.

2. If you’ve never sent an album in before or don’t yet have an ftp account, I will of course recommend setting that up immediately if you’re planning on sending in albums this fall for the holiday season delivery. Current clients will be given priority in the design cue throughout all of October and November.

I’ll be posting album manufacturer deadlines as I receive them over the next month, and it’s always safest to move your own personal deadlines up 3 or 4 weeks prior to avoid headaches.

Mixing Album Design Styles

Leslie just sent this wedding over to me, asking me to design her a killer sample since the wedding was in Paris, France. Since Leslie does a lot of Organic Design wedding albums, I thought keeping that idea and expanding a bit would be great for a sample album. I sampled colors from the bride’s bouquet and used a mix of color-blocked and organic design elements.

Ruben Parra sent this beautiful wedding over a few weeks ago. I’m just starting the revision stage of the album with him and his client, but wanted to show the original album as it’s a beautiful, clean, and modern album design.

Heidi Peters sent me a few photos of her beautiful fall album. Finao bound the album with the Fox Downs non-leather material, and I think it looks great. Thanks to Heidi for trusting me with her album design and sending me the final product images!

WPPI and Closure News

Willow Album Design will be at WPPI! I’ll be at the Finao Albums booth each day of the tradeshow if you’d like to meet me, and at various functions and parties from March 6-10.

Also, I’m taking a little vacation after WPPI. I’m not closing, but will be suspending normal turnaround from March 4-21. I’ll still be designing, but not with the normal quick turnaround you are used to receiving!

Premium Color-Blocked design emphasizes portraits

Miguel Pola sent this design over on the last day of my January album sale! He included a great mix of portraits and I used the 40 page design to emphasize those images.

Illinois Color-Blocked Album Design

Last week I received a gorgeous set of images from Heidi Peters Photography. I love how her processing really matches the style of the wedding, and was happy to incorporate colors from their fall-themed wedding into the album design.

Color-Blocked Wedding Album with Black Accents

Erik Matey finally sent a design into me, and I’m so glad he did! We chose a color-blocked design with black accents. This book is bound for inkjet printing, and I know the colors will pop right off the page!

I just finished this album for Sarah Postma and couldn’t wait to share it! It’s a clean, contemporary album with hot pink color blocks to match the bridesmaids dresses.

We wove Phyllis’s wedding colors plum and sage throughout the album in color blocks alongside images. This 10×15 album was just sent off to Finao and we can’t wait to get it back!
